PRA™ Foundations for Aspiring and Experienced PRAs
The PRA™ Foundations Program is a 6-day intensive training course in which learners acquire the knowledge, expertise and tools to support a wide-range of real estate professionals including new developments, brokers, property managers, and REALTORS®.
PRA™ Foundations introduces an overview of the real estate profession. This includes a close examination of national and local real estate organizations, federal and provincial agencies that real estate professionals align with, legislation that controls real estate activities, and the various specialists that interact with the real estate profession.
The course studies a focused range of interrelated topics, such as: the common systems, standard forms, and files used in the business of real estate; how and what information to filter to best maximize their and their employer’s operation; organize, manage the details and appropriately store documents, communicate effectively with clients and other professionals; an introduction to marketing and advertising real estate; managing the listing and sales process from start to finish; working effectively with buyers and sellers, and; handling completion and possession.
In this six-day comprehensive program, you will learn the:
- foundation of real estate success
- day to day systems, forms and files
- real estate marketing fundamentals
- ways to effectively manage the listing process
- dynamics of working with buyers and sellers
- completion and possession procedures
This intensive training program uses a hands-on teaching style with a small class size.
PRA™ Training is the only formal training program in BC for individuals seeking out a career as an unlicensed Professional Real Estate Assistant.
Course Overview
The course is structured into six modules, each one covering a specific aspect of the Professional Real Estate Assistant vocation. The modules have clear learning objectives, and the instructors use a variety of instructional strategies and assessment methods to ensure the learners successfully obtain the required knowledge and skills.
Learners benefit from an integrative, multidimensional approach to learning that includes lectures followed by demonstrations, hands-on activities, group discussions, individual activities, and take-home assignments. This ensures that learners with different learning styles are accommodated and supported to expand their learning by looking at the course materials from a variety of perspectives.
In-class activities and discussions are graded on the basis of participation and completion. The instructors closely monitor these activities and discussions to ensure that learners stay on track and reach reasonable conclusions.
Assignments are graded using clear pass/fail competency matrices. Instructors provide detailed feedback to learners on all assignments to ensure that misunderstandings are resolved promptly.
There is a written final exam that evaluates learners' retention of important conceptual information such as: legislation that regulates the real estate profession; tasks and activities that Professional Real Estate Assistants are and are not allowed to perform; industry terminology; common forms and their uses; marketing and advertising strategies, and; tasks and activities that the unlicensed Real Estate Assistant may undertake in the listing and selling process when communicating with buyers and sellers and as part of completion and possession.
To successfully complete the course, learners must attend every day of the course, pass all assignments, and achieve a minimum of 75% on the final exam. Learners who successfully complete the course receive a PRA™ Foundations Certificate of Completion.
