What Should Your Assistant Be Doing?

What Should Your Assistant Be Doing?

A question that we get asked often is: “What should my assistant be doing right now?” The answer is quite simple: support their REALTOR® and make them money. Here are some ways that an assistant can provide support to make more money:

  1. Schedule meetings for planning. Assistants need to know what your goals are for the upcoming week and how they will need to support you.
  2. Take a “snapshot” of where the business is at. Summarize the number of the REALTOR’S® listings that sold, expired and were terminated, the number of sales completed, and which clients are still actively looking in the upcoming year. Include the total sales volume for the year and the goal set at the beginning of the year, how do they compare?
  3. Regularly checking out what other REALTORS® are doing for marketing. Are there any ideas or techniques that could be adapted for their marketing projects?
  4. Think in systems to streamline productivity and efficiency. Is there a clear process in place for when contracts come in? Is your marketing plan systemized? If it’s not, what could be implemented to systemize it?
  5. Research networking opportunities with other REALTORS® and local businesses. Assist in relationship building with businesses in your area.

An assistant should always be looking for ways to improve their efficiency, add value and support their licensee. Remember, a good assistant will do what you tell them, a great assistant will do what you need done before you need to tell them.
